Monte's Blog

Monday 28th April - The weather was beautiful yesterday and the skating was even better... gentle tail wind to get us to the icecream nice and fast and then a good workout into the headwind on the way back. Well done to our first time grass-hill skaters, thanks to the crew and we look forward to seeing you at the next Gold Coast skate.

Friday 25th April - Ah yes, time for the RB-8 Review, they're classifed as a Workout skate, a relatively new terminology. I've had them on my feet for a week now and I can tell you a few things straight away. I am now a skating ninja; these are the QUIETEST skate I have EVER skated in. EVER. This skate is so much better than the previous model, (the Twister) with a thicker more comfortable liner, more even support, better frame, braking system, the works. So here we go from the ground up... read on in the forum...

Tuesday 8th April - Tuesday Night Catch-up plus social night out is back....Join us at the Shafston Hotel, East Brisbane for $12.50 dinner and karaoke and a drink or two, after Catch-Up every Tuesday Night. Wendy, Pete and I checked it out and even sang a few songs :) we finished up by ten, so its not too late for a school night.

Tuesday 1st April - Did anyone get April Fool'd? I caught a few people and busted someone who was trying to fool a friend... Got heaps of April Fool spam too...yay :(
Skate Melbourne Pics are being posted bit by bit, Pete's Gallery is up now. Maria has posted pics on the Planet Inline Facebook page, but you must be a Facebook member to see them.
The Planet Inline Gallery will be along shortly...once a few more assignments get knocked over that is ;)

Sunday 30th March - Well we are home now and the midgies have started biting already....:( what a great week though! Will write more about in the days to come, have 1800 words to write for tomorrow so I better get to it.

Tuesday 25th March
"Skate Melbourne 2008"
- Great effort from all skaters yesterday, a wonderful start to the week :) Special mention to Glen, Doc, John & Tony for joining Monte on the nightskate after already skating 26km. Extra special mention to Doc & Monte for dropping into the 8ft skatebowl in the dark with a torch when none of the Melbourne people would!

Sunday 23rd March
"Skate Melbourne 2008 Pre-Skating"
- Mr. Hunt & The General pre-skated the Bay-Circle Skate, while Monte & Pepsi re-familiarised themselves with the Brighton Beach to Port Melbourne run. A couple of sprinkles cooled us down, but nothing that we couldn't skate through. :) Its looking good for the 25th...

Saturday 22nd March
"Skate Melbourne 2008 Pre-Skating"
-The General pre-skated an awesome stretch of bikepath to close the gap on one of our tracks that seemed to have no easy way to get home. Weather here has been lovely with the chance of a light shower or two next week, so bring a jacket and be prepared to dress in layers as it can get rather chilly in the evening.

Tuesday 18th March - Ken Leeeeee!

Monday 17th March - Great turnout for St.Patrick's Day Skate, Mike's photo gallery is right here. If you missed 30Degrees Kelvin on Sunday it was awesome, we re definitely doing that skate again. Welcome to Eline from the Netherlands and top skating by Rachelle and Doc :)

Thursday 13th March - If you have already seen "I am Legend" and hated the ending like I did, then you might prefer the original ending instead, you can watch it here.

Sunday 9th March - Add planetinline@passport.com to your contacts list if you want to chat on msn messenger about skating or have any questions about lessons or tours. It won't accept email so don't try.

Tuesday, 4th March - If you have been waiting on an email reply for a few days, I must apologise for my not getting back to you as the computer systems at the office have been undergoing a major upgrade of both hardware and software. I am please to say that things are back to normalish and replies/updates will be forthcoming.

Monday, 3rd March - Great session from the girls at Cookie Club tonight, new PBs on stair climbing and a lot of tough situps. There's two more weeks of the KP stairs so get out there and join us, 7pm at Lower River Terrace.

Tuesday, 26th February - Thanks to all those who sent their apologies for not making it to Cookie Club last night, we had a half group and a very intense workout to wrap up our last beach session for a while. Next week its back to the Kangaroo Point Stairs!

Friday, 22nd February - I was at Orientation for uni today...what's that I hear you ask...wasn't that last year for when you started uni??? Well, I was there to receive a Dean's Scholar award/certificate for being in the top bracket of my course. Recipients must maintain a GPA of 6.0+ to qualify. I was also there in my capacity as a Mentor for first year students.

Wednesday, 20th February - Finally we get a WNS without rain and Casey won the first of five 2-4-1 mocvie passes to Paranoid Park. Well done Tina on completing your first WNS and thanks to our extra volunteers for marshalling assistance.

Monday, 18th February - Cannes Film Festival "60th Anniversary""Prize Winner, "Paranoid Park" is screening from March 13 at Dendy Cinemas, George St. City. We have five 2-4-1 Movie Passes to give away that are valid for the whole season.

Paranoid Prk

You will need to be at the WNS to win a 2-4-1 pass and we will give one away each week for the next 5 weeks. Thanks to Madman Pictures for the passes.

Sunday 17th, February - Guy asked me about a good pair of pants/shorts for skating, I mentioned that I just bought a pair of "BOOM" shorts from SkateBiz. They are a 3/4 style in a dark blue pinstrip. Very comfortable ( kneepads fit underneath easily), stylish and will complement any simple t-shirt or something with a bold design. I couldn't find a link on the SkateBiz website to show you them and my pair are in the wash, so you'll either have to go in to the store and check them out, or wait until I post a pic here.

Saturday 16th, February - I've been skating in the new 18+Nighthawks by FILA skates for the past two weeks now and apart from the tag count reaching 35 this week I can tell you the following things...Nighthawk 18+ Review.

Friday 15th, February - Return of the blog... after umming and ahhing about whether I could reliably maintain a blog I stopped bloggin for a while...then after a few skaters suggested that they would like to see it return, I am having another crack at blogging every two or three days...
